Thira - A beautiful wave.

To watch the movie, observe it and write all the positives and negatives as the movie goes on, that was the plan I had in my mind when I got in for Thira at Escape cinemas, Chennai. But Vineeth Sreenivasan had other plans, to keep me on the edge of my seat. I was literally on the edge of the seat when the movie reached its interval. There was only one question going through my mind at that time, how could he transform, transform from the director who gave us a cute romantic story and give us such a mind boggling thriller. Thira was that, a thriller, one of its kinds, I cannot remember another movie from our industry that has taken up such an issue other than maybe Calcutta News. But Calcutta News lacked something in my view, but Thira, was complete.

Shobhana, what a way to make a comeback. No need of countless posters or paper articles to make a grand comeback, a great role like this would do. What more need i say about her acting. Dhyan Sreenivasan, you just made a dream debut, acting along side shobhana and being part of such a wonderful movie, what more could you ask for ? He did full justice to his role, so did the other actors who were a part of this wonderful film. Deepak Parambol and Basu deserves a special mentioning.

Going on to the technical side. Jomon T John, your visuals are magical, I felt as if i was hiding somewhere and was watching the whole event. Ranjan Abraham once again reminds with his crisp editing why he is one of the best in the industry. The art direction and costumes also stood apart. Personally shobhanas sarees were a stand out for me through out the movie. Gave her the responsible mother/maayi look, the character demanded.

The perfect blend of visuals and music makes this movie more and more watchable. And the credit goes to Shaan Rahman for doing that. His music makes the movie more than a thriller, it puts the movie in a new genre, a musical thriller. And hats off to Shaan Rahman for doing that.

So all in all Thira is a movie you wouldn't wanna miss, infact its a movie you shouldn't miss. Not just because of the technical aspects, but it sends a small message, to show a helping hand for those in need and all the while giving this short message it also gives us an amazing movie experience.

There is a dialogue Shobana says to Dhyan , “Everyone has eyes, but we do not see things that don’t effect us”. An eye opener for the society ? We very well know that these sort of incidents like trafficking happens around us, but we just don’t care. After the movie ended at the cinemas, everyone got up and all of us were moving towards the exit, that’s when I saw a mother sitting on the chair holding her small daughter as close as possible, the expression on her face, that single incident explains the impact the Director has been able to produce on us viewers. Hats off Vineeth Sreenivasan and thank you for such a beautiful movie. Rakesh Mantodi hope to see more exciting scripts from you. Like all the other viewers I’m also eagerly waiting for the sequel.

This Wave(Thira) is going to haunt us for quite some time.
