7 Snacks from Malabar you should never miss.

Malabar;  paradise for any foodie. If you are a foodie, you should never ever skip this part of Kerala. Here are 7 wonderful dishes you should definitely try when you are in this region.

Note :- The blog contains photographs of all the dishes, so you are in for a lot of mouth watering. And Malabaris who are living away from their homes, you are going to feel homesick. So scroll down at your own risk.

Erachi Pathiri
Malabars own chicken stuffed tortillas, a little bit better though ;). The perfect crisp, the perfect light moments and finally when your tongue meets the stuffing its going to be fireworks in your mouth. Hands down one of the best dishes ever with enough spiciness and a little bit of sweetness to flirt with.

Pazham Nirachatu

Pazham pori (fried bananas) are there through out Kerala, but pazham nirachatu is a Malabar exclusive. Bananas and coconut two things we love, therefore we can all easily agree with the fact that this is one hell of a dish.

Kinnathapam

Our own sweet steamed rice cake. Always a joy to have.  This rice cake is one of the dishes that takes a lot of time for its preparation but at the end of the day when you get a bite of this sweet dish, you know that the wait has been worth it.

Chatti Pathiri

Malabars  answer to Lasagne, yes the Malabar variety of the Italian dish. The pastry dish which has many layers and each layer has its own story to tell. One dish that can make you carve for more, even if you are full.

Unnakaya
We have a thing for bananas, unnakaya is yet another dish with a lot of banana in it. The small banana rolls are a treat for our taste buds. They are little packets of love.

Malabar Samosa
Samosa, how did this middle eastern end up in this list. Guys, Malabar samosa, is a whole other thing, it looks the same with the triangle shape and the crust but the magic the stuffings brings in to this dish is huge. You don’t believe me? You are always welcome to try it out. When you are at it, try beef samosa, that is my personal favourite.

Arikaduka
A fitting finale for this amazing list, stuffed mussels/arikaduka/kalumakayi nirachthu. I have always been an agnostic. But when i have a bite of this amazing creation and  a sip of sulaimani by the Kozhikode beach surrounded by friends, those are times when i’m sure that there is god. You think i’m exaggerating, do come out to Calicut and try it, you won’t regret it, infact you might even thank me.

"No love is more sincere than the love for food" and we are people who have taken this pretty seriously, Our food is always filled with love and maybe that's why it tastes so good.

Happy eating, cheers! :)
