A wonderful journey to go on- North 24 kaatham

Some movies just make you want to write some good words about them and this road movie by Anil Radhakrishnan Menon is one such movie. What makes the movie special ? To start with, it’s a road movie, Yes i know NPCB was one too. But both are of different classes. One is about a couple of friends going on a road trip to find the answers for life and to win one of the friends girlfriend back but this movie starts off as a story of a clean freak who just lives for himself and no one else. And the transformation of that clean freak to a normal, rather an extra ordinary person is how the story goes on. In a more poetic way, the way in which a butterfly breaks from its cocoon and becomes free, that explains the state of the protagonist in the movie.

Don’t take my writings in the wrong way and write this off as a serious movie. Even being a sensible movie this gives us some jovial and light hearted scenes. Sreenath Bhasi once again proves that he is a delight to be watched on screen , his perfect one liners and the way he presents them really makes us chuckle. Swathi Reddy has also given us a really cute performance as the social worker who helps the old man in need. Nedumudi Venu like always has given us an impeccable performance. Even with all these wonderful performances Fahad Fasil still stands out with his amazing performance. The silent yet powerful Hari(Fahad) is indeed another good character for Fahad Fasil and he has done a really good job.

Another really good thing about the movie are the songs by Govind Menon of Thaikudam bridge.  The title song by Rex Vijayan is also amazing. Back to Govind Menon, no wonder Thaikudam bridge got viral so fast, their songs are wonderful and they have Govind to lead them. The hartal punk song and porumo gives  a different taste of music as far as malayalee audience are considered.  Tharagal song is a really soothing melody, the voice of Sidharth just takes us to new lengths of ecstacy. The bgm also goes with the movie.

The movie is both technically and critically sound. The director and cinematographer has done full justice to the shots in the movie. The colour grading was also well done. The title sequence was a visual and audio treat with great visuals and a peppy Sreenath Bhasi number. All in all the movie is a winner, that explains why it’s still present in theatres. I know this review has been really late, if you still haven’t  seen this movie, it is a loss. If you are movie fanatic and if you want to see fun and good movies, this is one movie you don’t wanna miss.

Let’s hope for more good movies like this.  Cheers
